Ryan was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Calgary in Sociology, spending a semester in Colima, Mexico, conducting an independent research project.
After, Ryan spent his time working and volunteering in the local communities around Calgary, while also traveling abroad. In 2013, Ryan spent a year in Japan teaching snowboarding and English.
Ryan went on to study law at Thompson Rivers University, where he sat on the executive committee for Canadian Lawyers Abroad and was the lead coordinator of the annual law ski trip.
Always wanting to live on the coast, while also staying close to the mountains, Ryan moved to Vancouver after law school, where he articled and worked as an associate for a boutique civil litigation firm. He joined Race & Company in the fall of 2018. He has a general litigation practice, focusing on insurance defense, real estate, and estate-related issues.
When not working, Ryan enjoys socializing with friends and staying active, particularly with snowboarding, golfing, and hockey. He also enjoys spending time with his border collie, Gerry.
