Jessie Cameron

Profile

Jessie Cameron was born and raised in Manitoba, and grew up loving sports and all things outdoors. She developed a special love for long winters and snow, which ultimately fuelled a passion for snowboarding. In 2007, Jessie obtained a Bachelor of Science Honours from the University of Winnipeg, majoring in Biology and Forestry.

Following a year testing the snow in Japan, Jessie turned her mind to pursuing a law degree somewhere snowy. She attended the University of British Columbia, where she took a wide variety of private and public law courses, with a special interest in environmental law. In 2012, she competed at the Lewis & Clark Environmental Law Negotiation Competition, an international moot in Portland, Oregon. Jessie also obtained firsthand experience in workers’ compensation law and policy through an internship with the Review Division at WorkSafeBC.

Jessie joined Race & Company in 2012 as a summer student. She went on to complete her articles with the firm and joined the firm as an associate upon her call to the bar. Jessie’s practice includes plaintiff and defence personal injury law, with a specialty in workers’ compensation law. In her free time Jessie enjoys snowboarding, mountain biking, and trail running, as well as playing roller derby for the Sea to Sky Sirens.

Jessie recently co-authored an article with Race & Company’s Max Hufton regarding the increasing use of smart phones on the roads. Read more at www.claimscanada.ca/issues
