Karin Emond was born in Halifax, NS and grew up in Toronto, ON. She fell in love with Whistler on her first trip west as a young downhill ski racer. She moved to Vancouver to attend the University of British Columbia in 1993, where she earned a degree in Human Kinetics. Karin lived in the interior of BC, working as a tree-planter and raft-guide for a number of years before moving back to the coast to attend UBC law school in 2003. Karin completed her law degree in 2006 with a concentration in Natural Resource and Environmental law. She attended her final semester of law school on exchange at the University of Otago in New Zealand. Karin then articled at Lawson Lundell LLP in Vancouver and was called to the BC bar in 2007. She continued on as an Associate with Lawson Lundell until February 2010 when she joined Race and Company. Karin practices law mainly in the areas of personal injury, wills and estates, contract disputes, environmental, aboriginal and corporate/commercial litigation.
Karin is very happy to be living in Whistler and closer to the mountains that she loves. She spends most of her free time skiing, mountain biking and surfing. She is an active board member of the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, BC Chapter. She is also a member of the Canadian Bar Association, the Trial Lawyer’s Association of BC and the Surfrider Foundation.
