John grew up in
Atikokan, a small community in Northern Ontario, cutting portages
in Quetico Provincial Park, working at the local lumber mill and
wilderness canoe guiding. After high school, and several stints of
skiing around the world, John completed his Undergraduate and
Masters in Legal Studies at Carleton University in Ottawa and a
Juris Doctorate at the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law. It
only took one summer working on Bay St. in Toronto to remind John
that his passion lay in the mountains; he packed up and headed
back to the beautiful Squamish / Whistler corridor to join forces
with Race & Company.
John's legal career has focused on
personal injury litigation, municipal litigation, Canadian
Aboriginal issues and Alternative Dispute Resolution. John is a
litigator by trade but has expanded his practice with Race & Co.
to include real estate transactions, wills and estates, and
corporate transactions.
In his free time, John skis as
much as possible in the winter and substitutes mountain biking in
the summer- surfing whenever possible in between. John is a member
of the Canadian Bar Association and Trial Lawyers Association of
British Columbia. John also coaches basketball at the local high
school and is an active member of SORCA. |
