Douglas Race was raised in Vancouver and attended the University of British Columbia.
He graduated with Degrees in Commerce and Law. He was called to the Bar of the province of British Columbia in 1973
and has practiced law continually since that date. Initially, Doug practiced in the areas of civil litigation and matrimonial
law, but now restricts his practice to corporate, commercial, real estate, and wills and estates.
In 1978, Doug moved to Whistler from Vancouver and joined Harley Paul in practice. He opened the Whistler office of
what is now Race & Company. At that time, Whistler was a community of approximately five hundred people, but on the
verge of development into the world-class resort it is today.
In 1986, Doug moved to Squamish and now practices from the Squamish office of Race & Company. He is actively involved
in the community of Squamish, being a member and past president of the Rotary Club of Squamish and having served as
Chair of a recent hospital fundraising campaign.
Doug has been an active sailor since childhood and has participated in yacht races all over North America and Europe.
In recent years, he has campaigned his own yacht "Ballenas" in local races. He also enjoys skiing and hiking in the
local mountains and is an active recreational runner and cyclist.
